'Forger' goes to Londontown

THEATER: Lakeside to London: Now there's a theatrical transfer.
"The Master Forger" * by San Diego Playwright David Wiener, opened at London's Tabard Theatre earlier this month and earned at least one four-star notice from critic John Thaxter.
"Tightly directed and beautifully designed by Hamish Gray, the sparky drama-documentary features the fraudulent Hans van Meegeren," wrote Thaxter of the show about the famous forger who sold a fake Vermeer to Nazi Field Marshal Hermann Göring - and to many others.
The play premiered last year at Wayne Erreca's Octad-One, now called East Side Repertory, where Wiener's next drama will open in mid-June. Also part history, Wiener's new play is Louis & Irving, about the relationship of Louis B. Mayer and Irving Thalberg at MGM Studios.
